OIT supports two file sharing solutions, "File Shares" and "Google Shared Drives"
File Shares, sometimes referred to as Network Drives, store files on UAH premises, on university-owned servers, with multiple off-site backups. If you need to share files subject to confidentiality requirements more stringent than FERPA, file shares are the only OIT-supported solution. File shares do not have a strictly-enforced limit but OIT staff monitor utilization to ensure responsible use. To request a new file share, or changes to an existing one, such as adding or removing authorized users, please submit a request.
Google Shared Drives Google Shared Drives allow teams to store and collaborate on files owned by the organization rather than an individual. UAH Google Shared Drives are subject to capacity limits based on the creator's role: 1,000 GB (1 TB) for Faculty and Staff, and 2 GB for Students. To learn more about using Shared Drives, click here.
