Overview
To provide the most secure and reliable experience on the UAH campus, OIT is prioritizing all infrastructure resources toward our primary supported networks. As part of this modernization, legacy wireless networks are being fully retired across campus. Users are encouraged to verify that their devices are utilizing these modern standards to ensure optimal performance and data protection.
Which network should I use?
- For UAH Students, Faculty, and Staff: Use eduroam, our primary secure network. It uses your full UAH email address and password for a seamless connection here on campus and at thousands of participating research and educational institutions worldwide.
- For Campus Guests: Use UAH Get Connected. This is our self-registration network designed specifically for visitors and guests.
Legacy Service Retirement
OIT is currently in the planning phase of full retire the following legacy networks:
- Student5
- Staff5
- Faculty5
- Guest5
These networks are not currently available in all areas of campus. If you are in an area where these legacy networks are still visible, please be aware that they are unsupported and may experience diminished performance until their final removal. We recommend using eduroam to ensure a reliable and secure connection.
How to Connect to eduroam
For the most secure and reliable connection, OIT recommends using the the geteduroam app. This tool automatically configures your device for the best possible experience.
- Visit https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=2016
- Download and run the installer for your specific operating system.
- When prompted for your credentials, you must use your full UAH email address (e.g., username@uah.edu) and your current password.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my device asking for my full email address? The eduroam protocol is a global service. To identify you as a UAH user when you are on our campus (or visiting a participating institution), the system requires your full email address (username@uah.edu) rather than just your username.
What if my device is not compatible with eduroam? If you have a device that does not support modern enterprise security, please contact the OIT Help Desk for assistance with alternative connection options.
