Body

Who needs to use these instructions?

This information is for UAH students, prospective students, faculty, staff, and guests who use devices running the Android operating system.

If you are visiting from another educational institution, you can check whether your institution participates in eduroam by visiting this website. Visitors will need to contact their institution's IT department for assistance with connecting to eduroam.

How to connect on an Android device?

1. Install UAH's eduroam certificate

Before connecting to eduroam, you will need to install UAH's eduroam certificate. This certificate allows your device to protect your privacy by verifying that it's connecting to the UAH network, or to another official eduroam partner network.

Follow the steps below to download and install the certificate.

  1. Click this link to download the certificate.
  2. If asked which app should open the file, choose "Certificate Installer," then choose "Just once." The installer will open.
  3. Provide the name "UAH eduroam 2019" (or any name to help you identify the certificate).
  4. From the "Credential use" menu, select "Wi-Fi," then tap "OK."

The certificate has now been installed.

2. Connect to the eduroam network

Follow the steps below to connect.

  1. Open your device's Wi-Fi settings, then tap "eduroam."
  2. Fill in the settings as follows.
    • Note: If any setting you see are not mentioned here, leave it at its default setting; similarly, some settings may not be shown on your device. This will not affect the connection.
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAP v2
    • CA certificate: UAH eduroam 2019 (the certificate you installed above)
    • Domain: eduroam.uah.edu
    • Identity: (your full email address, such as ChargerID@uah.edu)
    • Password: (your UAH/Charger password)
  3. Tap "Connect."

Also note that if you are using a third-party keyboard, such as SwiftKey, it may automatically add a space after the email address, which can cause errors.

If you have any trouble, please contact the OIT Help Desk at helpdesk@uah.edu for further assistance.
