Changing the Canon Scan Driver Settings

Here is how to make changes to the scan settings for most Canon DR series document scanners. These settings have the ability to be configured to override individual program scan settings, so just be aware of whether that is needed or not.

  • From your start menu, locate the Canon imageFORMULA Driver Setting Tool. It will typically be under a folder for your Canon scanner model (ex - Canon DR-M140, Canon DR-C240, etc).

  • Under the ISIS/Twain/WIA tabl, check the boxes for Change default settings and Prevent changing default settings (for override of all other software scan settings if needed). Afterwards, click the Settings... button.

  • Make sure nothing is selected in the left User Preference box. In the right area under the Basic tab, change Scanning Side to Skip blank page and check the box for Automatically straightens skewed. If the color mode needs to be adjusted, as well, it can be changed with the very top drop down menu. Click OK to save the settings.

  • The previous window will open up again. Click Apply then OK. You can close it afterwards.

  • Finally, verify that your scans now have the correct settings in whichever program you use.
