Changing and Updating Your UAH Password While Working Remotely

These instructions are only relevant if you have a UAH laptop that uses your Charger ID and password to log in. We recommend following these steps to change your password so that you are not locked out of your computer after the change.

We recommend completing these steps directly on your UAH computer.

Instructions

  1. Before doing anything else, make sure that you are connected to the UAH network through the UAH campus VPN. Learn how to get connected to the UAH VPN.
  2. Open up a web browser and navigate to https://oitportal.uah.edu.
  3. Log in with your Charger ID and current password.
  4. Look for the My Password(s) tab and click it.
  5. Enter in your new desired password in both boxes, then click Change now.
  6. If the change is successful you should see a pop-up confirming the password change.
  7. Once this is done, the change will need to be synced to your computer. While still connected to VPN, lock your computer and sign in again.
    1. On Windows:
      1. press the CTRL + ALT + DEL keys to pull up the lock screen menu on Windows.
      2. Click Lock at the top.
      3. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to sign in again. This time use the new password you set through the portal to log in.
    2. On Mac:
      1. Click the Apple menu > Lock Screen or press the keyboard shortcut Command+Control+Q.
      2. Sign in again using your new password.

That should update the computer to so it uses the new password to log in even when not connected through VPN. Note that after the password change you may also be prompted to update it in Outlook or on your phone if you have your UAH email account set up on either client.
