The Office of Information Technology keeps a record of who is responsible for each device on the UAH network. This helps with troubleshooting any problems that may occur with the device's network access, and it also brings the device into compliance with various legal and policy requirements. The "responsible party" for each device is defined as the primary user of that device - in other words, this individual is most involved with the daily use and operation of the device.
For most devices, OIT can automatically detect who is responsible:
- When connecting to eduroam, each device automatically provides the Charger ID of its responsible party.
- The connection process for UAH Get Connected requires the device's responsible party to enter their contact information.
- Windows computers that are joined to the Campus-wide Active Directory automatically take note of the responsible party via the Windows login screen.
However, if none of the above apply to the device, then the Network Access Request Form must be submitted, so that OIT will have a record of who is responsible for the device.
How do I connect to the UAH network?
To connect to the UAH network, reference the "Accessing UAH Wi-Fi" or "Quick Start Guide: UAH Network Connection" articles. These articles will help you determine whether you need to submit a NARF to access the UAH network.
