I want to use a new Google App or Add-on

OIT often receives requests from faculty, staff, or student users who express interest in the availability of a Google or Browser Add-On or an App that would use Google authentication. There are so many on the market and each with its own set of risks and rewards, costs, or even legal aspects. Since each must meet specific requirements before they're approved, we ask that the requester collect details when submitting a request. We have a FERPA agreement with Google.

If the App is truly from Google (like Google Voice):
1. Please describe your business case on the off chance some existing product used by UAH might meet your needs.
2. Has this app/feature been approved by the UAH Office of Counsel? If not, you may be required to get the contract approved by the UAH Office of Counsel before the app/feature can be implemented.
3. If there is a cost, is your department willing to pay for it? Please note that some products may not be restricted to a single user and costs may be based on UAH usage as a whole.

Third party add-on/app (like YAMM or Smartsheet):
1. Please describe your business case; we would like to verify that there isn't already an existing product used by UAH that may meet your needs.
2. Is the app/etc. compliant with FERPA? If it is, that should be listed in their license agreement.
3. Has this app/feature been approved by the UAH Office of Counsel? If not, you may be required to get the contract approved by the UAH Office of Counsel before the app/feature can be implemented.
4. If there is a cost, is your department willing to pay for it? Please note that some products may not be restricted to a single user and costs may be based on UAH usage as a whole.
