BDM/Xtender Web Configuration Settings

This document is for UAH staff using the web client of Banner Document Management (BDM).

Summary

The Banner Document Management (BDM) Application (often called Xtender) is the web client used to scan documents for storage and indexing in Banner. The separate desktop client will no longer be supported as of Summer 2016. You can access it using your Internet Explorer browser.

Note: Internet Explorer is the only supported browser.

Java Settings

Our version of BDM requires a specific version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). If you experience the following types of problems, you may have an incorrect version.

  • Toolbars not showing up after login
  • Random error windows popping up
  • Not being able to print
  • Not being able to save documents

The solution is to remove Java and allow the application to download the correct version.

Note: By not downloading the latest Java updates, you may experience problems with your system when visiting web pages or using web applets.
