Campus IDs

All campus community members should have two IDs:

Charger ID

This is your primary login ID and serves as the base of your official uah.edu email address. Typically the format consists of your initials followed by a 4 digit sequence number (e.g., jc0001). Your Charger ID is used to sign into Banner, Canvas, myUAH, Google Workspace, and the eduroam wireless network.

Can't remember your Charger ID and/or password?

If you cannot remember your Charger ID, you may visit reset.uah.edu and follow the prompts to the last page where you could change your password. You don't have to change your password there; the Charger ID displays on that screen. If you need us to provide your Charger ID to you or change your password, we need you to work with us to verify your identity. We currently offer 3 methods for this:

  1. You can confirm your identity in person at the OIT Help Desk in the Library. We are available on Weekdays, 8am - 5pm. Please bring your Charger ID or government-issued ID.
  2. You can reply to this email and attach a photo of yourself holding your government-issued ID. We need to see your face and ID in the same photo so that we can match the likeness to the ID. We also need to be able to read your name on the ID
  3. You can send a FAX to us at 256-824-5623 that contains a copy of your government-issued photo ID along with your signature. We will only verify through this method if the information and photo are legible. Many government-issued IDs have counterfeiting prevention features that make faxes illegible.

If you need us to change your password, please also provide us a phone number at which you can be reached; we must provide the new password via phone (not email).

A-Number

This is used by various offices around campus. You may be asked for it in order to access your personal records or for security purposes.

Can't remember your A-Number?

Students and prospective students should look at previous email communication with Admissions Advisers to find their A-number. Employees may see their A-number on their Charger Card. If you need us to provide your A-number to you or change your password, we need you to work with us to verify your identity. We currently offer 3 methods for this:

  1. You can confirm your identity in person at the OIT Help Desk in the Library. We are available on Weekdays, 8am - 5pm. Please bring your Charger ID or government -issued ID.
  2. You can email helpdesk@uah.edu requesting a password reset, and attach a photo of yourself holding your government-issued ID. We need to see your face and ID in the same photo so that we can match the likeness to the ID. We also need to be able to read your name on the ID.
  3. You can fax us at 256-824-5623 with a copy of your government-issued photo ID along with your signature. We will only verify through this method if the information and photo are legible. Many government-issued IDs have counterfeiting prevention features that make faxes illegible.
