Setting up Outlook with Google Workspace Sync

In order to use Outlook for accessing a UAH Gmail account, Google Workspace Sync for Microsoft Outlook is required for Windows computers.

If you do not have it installed on your computer, it can be obtained here.

The instructions below can be used to set up Outlook for the first time with your Gmail account or to recreate and resync your messages in case of issues with the current profile.

  1. Open up the list of applications from the Start Menu and look for a folder called Google Workspace Sync. Expand it and click the option for Set up a Google Workspace Sync user.

  2. In the window that pops up, enter in your UAH email address and click Continue.

  3. A web browser window will open up prompting you to select your Google account. Click the correct account, then on the following page, scroll all the way down and click the Allow button.  ** Note that if you are recreating the profile in Outlook, you may not be prompted to click Allow again.

  4. After allowing Google Workspace Sync for your account, you will see a message about closing the browser window. Close the window or tab, then look to your task bar for an icon with two green circling arrows and click it to bring the setup window back to the foreground.

  5. In the next part of the setup window, do not worry about selecting any options and just click the Create profile button.

  6. Complete the setup by clicking Start Microsoft Outlook from the next window.

  7. While your mailbox is syncing, make sure the mailbox size limit is correct. View the instructions here.
