Install the UAH VPN via SCCM

The UAH Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a tool that allows users to remotely connect to the UAH network and access resources that are only available on campus. To connect to the VPN, you will need to download and install the Ivanti Secure Access VPN Client (formerly called Pulse Connect Secure).

This particular article is specific to installing the Ivanti Secure Access VPN client by using the System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) on Windows computers, also known as the Software Center. SCCM can be used to install several software packages onto your UAH-owned computer if it is connected to the campus Active Directory domain. Click here to learn if your computer is joined to an Active Directory.

Please note that only UAH faculty and staff have the ability to install the VPN client using SCCM. Other users may download and install the client by following the steps in the related KB article Connecting to the UAH VPN.

How to Install

Please follow the steps below to install the Ivanti Secure Access VPN client via SCCM.

  1. From your Start Menu, look through your programs list and find the Microsoft Endpoint Manager folder, then Software Center within it. Alternatively, you can also use the search option near the Start Menu icon in Windows 10 to search for "Software Center".

  1. It will not have any connections listed, so click the + to add a new one. Ensure the connection Type is "Policy Secure (UAC) or Connect Secure (VPN)." The connection Name can be a name of your choosing, such as "UAH" or your Charger ID. The Server URL is psvpn.uah.edu. After inputting this information, click Connect.

  1. The client should begin the connection process automatically. A window will pop up to prompt you for your SSO credentials. Sign in with your UAH Charger ID and password as you normally do when signing in to SSO systems. Then, complete the Duo prompt.

  1. If your information is incorrect, the pop up will prompt you to sign in again, but otherwise it should disappear and you should be able to see in the main window that the UAH connection has a green checkmark indicating it's connected.
