Install Pulse Secure VPN via SCCM

Pulse Secure Virtual Private Networking (VPN) is a tool that allows users to remotely connect to the UAH network and access resources that are only available on campus.

You can read more about installing Pulse Secure VPN Client in the related KB article (Connecting with Pulse Connect Secure VPN Client). This particular article is specific to installing the Pulse Secure VPN client by using System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). SCCM can be used to install several software packages onto your UAH-owned computer if it is connected to the campus Active Directory domain.

Please follow the steps below to install the Pulse Secure VPN client via SCCM.

  1. From your Start Menu, look through your programs list and find the Microsoft System Center folder, then Software Center within it. Alternatively, you can also use the search option near the Start Menu icon in Windows 10 to search for "Software Center".

  1. When you open up Software Center, there should be a bunch of tiles for different software titles that can be installed. Look for the one for Pulse Secure and click it:

  1. On the details page that comes up, click the blue Install button:

  1. The program should give a progress status, then let you know once it's installed. Afterwards it will need to be set up with the UAH information. Again from the Start Menu and Program List, locate Pulse Secure and open it.

  1. It will not have any connections listed, so click the + to add a new one. Fill in the information as shown in the second screenshot below.

  1. Afterwards, click the Connect button. It should begin the connection process, then open a pop up window asking for your credentials. You will have to enter in your UAH email address (ChargerID@uah.edu, not the alias), along with your password. Check the box below to save your information. Afterwards click Connect.

  1. If your information is incorrect, the pop up will prompt you again, but otherwise it should disappear and you should be able to see in the main window that the UAH connection has a green checkmark indicating it's connected.
