Overview
Duo Security is UAH's service provider for multi-factor authentication (MFA) on Single Sign-On (SSO) systems.
All current UAH students, faculty, and staff are required to authenticate with Duo when accessing SSO-authenticated services such as myUAH, Canvas, Banner, and more. Duo is also required to use classroom podium computers.
Please note that Duo is similar to but separate from Google 2-Step Verification, which is UAH's MFA solution for Google services.
Get Started With Duo
You'll be prompted to set up Duo the first time you sign in with UAH Single Sign-On.
Follow the steps below for first-time setup.
- Visit my.uah.edu and sign in with your Charger ID and Charger password
- You'll be greeted by a welcome screen from Duo. Click Next to progress through the introduction
- Select a method of authentication
- OIT strongly recommends choosing Duo Mobile. This app allows you to access your account even if your mobile device isn't connected to the internet. Learn how to set up Duo Mobile
- Please note that Touch ID is not supported on all devices and browser. If you select Touch ID as your method of authentication, OIT recommends adding a secondary method of authentication so you're not locked out of your account when signing in on a non-Touch ID device
- International phone numbers may or may not work with Duo for SMS passcodes or phone callback. For this reason, OIT recommends utilizing the Duo Mobile app as your primary method of authentication.
- Read more about the authentication methods offered by Duo
- Follow the prompts to finish setting up your chosen authentication method
- You may be prompted to set up an alternate method of authentication. OIT recommends adding at least one additional method of authentication to your account
After enrolling your device, you'll be able to sign in to SSO services and authenticate your identity with Duo.
